My Favourite Cacao Recipe
Cacao is an incredible plant medicine that has been used for thousands of years by people of the Mayan culture., especially in pregnancy and postpartum.
It is a potent healing and heart-opening elixir containing wisdom from papatuanuku, and is used in ceremony to help us connect with our heart space. Often cacao can leave us feeling blissful, grounded and with our hearts wide open to receive.
Using cacao daily can be a wonderful way to support your mind-body wellness, while also creating space in your day to practice setting an intention. Here’s my yummy little cacao recipe.
Honey Pot Cacao Recipe
Ingredients:
◌ 20grams cacao paste - I like Mamamuti’s Yin Blend
OR
◌ 2tbsp cacao powder
◌ 1/4 tsp cacao butter (or coconut oil)
Combined with:
◌ 1 tsp organic maple syrup or coconut sugar (adjust to your desired sweetness)
◌ Dash of cinnamon
◌ 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
◌ 1/2 cup of water
◌ 1/2 coconut cream
◌ A big dose of love
◌ Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional if you like a little spice!)
The above quantities are per person - so add 2x for 2 people, 3x for 3 and so on! However, don’t get too into the measuring! Every cacao is a little different.
Directions:
Pop all ingredients in a pot, then the trick is to bring it to a rapid boil (careful it does not overflow!) Once boiled let it simmer away for a wee while to get thick. A pot with a solid base also helps. Use a whisk to get it frothy or you can cheat and put it in the blender. BUT DON’T put it in the blender boiling hot! Wait for it to cool, or put all the ingredients in the blender first, then heat. Remember before you serve to stir in your love and set an intention.
Enjoy! ♡
